MANGO MOUSSE

 

May this festival of lights bring in lots of happiness to your family. Happy Diwali to all my readers. This is my first post for Diwali, to celebrate it different from the normal routine have made a yummy homemade dessert. Upcoming days you will see more Diwali sweets that I have prepared for this year. This mousse is such a simple recipe that can be prepared in few minutes, it can also be served as a pudding if u skip the cream. Hope u guys will give it a try fro this Diwali and make ur loved ones happy in a special way. Lets move on to the ingredients.

INGREDIENTS(servings4-5 cups)

  • 2-3 ripe mangoes.
  • 200ml of whipping cream.
  • 1 teaspoon of icing sugar.(can use normal powdered sugar also.)
  • 1 tablespoon of agar agar.(can use gelatin also.)
  • 50ml of water.
  • Fresh mangoes,blueberries,cherries and karupuravalli leaves for decoration.(optional)

METHOD

  • Chop mangoes into small pieces and run in a blender.
  • Blend smooth without any lumps and do not add water.

  • Chill the mixing bowl for 15 minutes, add cream and sugar and beat until you get stiff peaks.
  • Refrigerate the cream until you prepare the agar agar mixture.

  • Heat 50ml of water in a bowl, add agar agar powder and mix well, boil till you get the syrup consistency, then switch off the flame.
  • Let the mixture cool down for 10 minutes.

  • After 10 minutes add the mango puree to it and mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  • Now take out the prepared cream from the fridge and keep ready.

  • Scoop a ladle full of cream and gently fold in the puree mixture. Then slowly mix all the left over cream.

  • Now take a plate pour some chocolate sauce and just invert your serving bowl/glass on sauce, so that you can get a chocolaty taste while feasting the mousse.
  • You can see the sauce on the rim of the glasses.(this step is optional)

  • Now pour the mousse on shot glasses or serving bowls and refrigerate it for 20-25 minutes.

  • After 30 minutes decorate the mousse with your favorite fruits and serve chill.

NOTE

  • Mangoes that I have added tastes very sweet so I did not add sugar. Sugar added to cream is just to prevent the cream from turning into butter.
  • If you wish to add more sweetness to the mousse add sugar along with cream while beating.
  • The leaf that I have used for presentation have lot of medicinal values so can eat raw, if you don’t prefer adding it can use mint leaves also.
  • If you feel the cream is too much for your mango puree while mixing you can scoop little cream and add some chocolate sauce to it and freeze for 6 hours,chocolate ice-cream is ready.
